A Trail of Candles & Beginnings
In the fleeting moments between the state of being awake and reaching the gates of the dream world lies a borderland from which the mood music of ancient tales comes - the heavenly interplay of three creative souls, known as AURI.
Originally in 2011 from the special connection of Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas Holopainen and Troy Born Donockley, AURI was only introduced to the world in 2018. Now complemented by the dynamic percussion talents of Kai Hahto, the trio creates fantastical worlds that are all their own.
Consisting of Tuomas' keyboard instruments and endless imagination, Troy's arsenal of flutes, other folk instruments and his magical touch, as well as Kurkela's youthful and delicate voice full of childlike wonder - fragile and gossamer, but still powerful and moving beyond words - the flow of AURI's heavenly, uplifting mood music captures you from the first notes and doesn't let go.
For its main members, AURI is a creative escape that frees itself from the prejudices and expectations of its other bands and their respective audiences. Based on Celtic folklore and cinematic pop, but not tied to a specific genre, AURI is music that cannot be described in words alone. No, the equal work of the enchanted three moves on a completely unique path, free from all expectations except their own. This is a type of music that has a direct effect on the emotions.
Embrace the atmospheric soundscapes of fantastical valleys of other fairy-tale dimensions and long-gone campfire bards.
Dwell for a moment in treasure troves of dreamscapes and reflections that transform everyday things into unearthly wonders.
Feel invited, to experience endless adventures on long, untrodden paths and never-used ships.
As if frozen in time, you will be captivated by heartbreaking farewell greetings to those who are dear to us. Hear the gentle words that empower those who feel inadequate and reassure those who fear death.
AURI’s are the keys to a dimension of wonder that no one else sees. Only they can offer the mystical soundscapes and ethereal songs.
Theirs are the magical powers that can melt the hardest hearts and bring seasoned men to tears. AURI invites the listener to journeys that no other band can offer.
Come on, my love - now it's quiet enough to go.
