The exhibition presents the latest edition of the Herbarium Collection curated by Irina Batkova with works by internationally recognized artists who live and work in Germany.
The new selection of Herbarium explores the aspect of cultural nomadism. In today's world of globalization, the cultural interdependencies associated with migration not only describe the physical movement between countries, but also the state of being between identities, territories and affiliations. Cultural nomadism is not an forced migration or exile, but a conscious decision - the search for an expanded horizon in which the freedom of expression and the interpretation by being different are the guiding principles. The focus of the Herbarium collection is on the preservation of the creative energy of different artists from all over the world in boxes that resemble those in which plant copies are kept. By participating in the project, the participants take on the double role of the research subject and the researcher and offer new participants and thus new samples for the selection. Through professional connections within the contemporary forming art scene, each edition of the project draws the exchange of ideas and creative visions with regard to social, political, ecological and technological processes in the world.
