Automatic in Toekomstmuziek

Postpunktrio Automatic from Los Angeles is inspired by the work of bands like Neu! And suicide, but nevertheless named himself after a song by Girlrock band The Go-Go's. Automatic combines postpunk with sturdy synth work and minimalist drumbeats. This year the title track of their new album 'Is It Now?', A song that is about finding joy in a world that is about to collapse. With this they continue to build on their retro-futuristic synthpop and poetic reflections. For the new album they collaborated with producer Loren Humphrey (Cameron Winter, Nice As Fuck, Arctic Monkeys) to build on the sound of their previous albums 'Signal' and 'Excess', minimalist but danceable songs that they say are Deviant Pop.
