In the film, Jan Werich played both the castellan Oliva, the central narrator, and a magician coming to a small Czech town for a performance. He is accompanied by the artist Diana (Emília Vášáryová) and a magical cat with sunglasses. When he takes them off, he can reveal the true character of people with his eyes. The colorful tricks, the Telč locations and the moral touch of the fantasy story charmed the jury in Cannes, where Jasný won another award not long after Touz - the Special Jury Prize.
💡 A minimalist bar (beer, lemonade and snacks) is available right in the cinema. There are also toilets (at the café of the Ethnographic Museum) and blankets, in case you get cold in the evening.
