The b12 Festival is a lively space for artistic processes, courageous experiments and international exchange in a constantly growing community. The festival takes place in three annual editions in Berlin and brings together professional dancers, performers and choreographers from all over the world. The focus is on supporting artists who are willing to take emotional and physical risks - both on stage and in the creative process.
format asteroids: b12 participants develop and research ideas with a choreographer in order to present them in a performance series. The following descriptions of the workshops are the starting point for the pieces to be developed. The draft is then presented to the public.

This work takes us on a lively journey of discovery of storytelling through movement, language and collaboration. Inspired by mythical tales such as the eternal love and loss of Orpheus and Eurydice or the daring battles of Icarus and Glaucus, the performance meanders through a landscape of interconnected moments, each imbued with specific imagery and emotional resonance. Text-based impulses and physical expression merge and create a dialogue between words and movement. The stage transforms into a shared space in which timeless conflicts and profound narratives take shape. Each scene builds on the previous one and overlays them with vivid images that are full of emotional texture. The project invites an interplay between individual voices and collective stories and conjures a world in which myth and fantasy come to life.
falling empires / Johannes Wieland
This is the end. This is the beginning. And everything in between. There are no setbacks and no plans. But we are forever free. That's something! And we are eloquent when it comes to hiding our true intentions. We keep up appearances and can adapt. Still, we can be disarmingly beautiful. We love the strange but choose the conservative. We drink responsibly and play it safe. We are the best of the best - ready to unleash the darkness by reflecting the innocent yet ruthless light of the sun. This is the end. This is the beginning. and everything in between.
we / Toula Limnaios
In our current environment, delusion and reason could be viewed as an inseparable pair and not as an illness as in the past. A different kind of knowledge, a counter-reason, as Michel Foucault puts it, that has its own language, or rather: its own silence. Focus: releasing the powers within us. To translate them physically, dynamically and expressively.

In this project, we will embark on a vibrant exploration of storytelling through movement, language, and collaboration. Inspired by mythic tales such as Orpheus and Eurydice's eternal love and loss, or the daring fights of Icarus and Glaucus, the performance weaves through a landscape of interconnected moments, each alive with specific imagery and emotional resonance. Scenes will emerge from a fusion of text-driven prompts and physical expression, creating a dialogue between words and motion. Through ensemble work, the stage will transform into a shared space where timeless conflicts and profound narratives take shape. Each scene builds upon the last, layering vivid visuals charged with emotional texture. This project invites an interplay between individual voices and collective storytelling, evoking a world where myth and imagination come vividly to life.

This is the end. This is the beginning. And everything in between. There are no fallbacks and there are no plans. But we are eternally free. That's something! and we are eloquent when it comes to hiding our real intentions. We keep up appearances and we can adapt. still, we can be disarmingly beautiful. We love the strange but vote for the conservative. We drink responsibly and play it safely. We are the best of the best - ready to unleash the darkness through our unapologetic way of reflecting the innocent yet merciless light of the sun. this is the end. This is the beginning. And everything in-between.
we / Toula Limnaios
Delusion and reason could be seen in our present environment as a couple that cannot be separated and not as a disease as in the past. A different kind of cognition, a counter-reason, as Michel Foucault puts it, which has its own language, or better: its own silence. Focus: to unleash the forces within us. To translate them physically, dynamically, and with expressivity.
