The official release was February 28th, 2025. It is important to us to celebrate this good occasion again in our neighborhood!
On our BalkaNova AAK page you can find the CD presentations in DEUTSCHLANDFUNK and HESSISCHER RUNDFUNK to listen to, as well as reviews, including those from the Belgian music magazine ROOTSTIME: “Particularly noteworthy are Viktoria Lasaroff's versatile voice and Andreas Brunn's guitar, which effortlessly combines Balkan rhythms with influences from Cuba and Brazil and breathes new life into Bulgarian folk music. Delicious stuff!” (Dani Heyvaert)

At this point, many thanks for the commitment of all colleagues involved in the CD - Stoyan Yankoulov, Vladimir Karparov, Mladen Stoyanov, Philipp Bernhardt and Daniel Stawinski and to our label Laika Records & Peter Cronemeyer as well as the team at KulturRaum Zwingli Church!
BalkaNova interprets folk songs in a special way: arrangements developed closely to the text reflect the meaning of the words in every moment through subtle, jazzy harmonies, fast rhythms and the metric typical of the Balkans. The text, melody and accompaniment of the original Balkan songs are interwoven in a unique way.
