Bartók x Дeva | Pozsony

The opening concert of the More Than Neighbors festival 🎶

Is there a transition between genres? Bartók meets the folk song and the looper - is this just the beginning of a joke? How free is music, how free are the musician and you, dear audience? Is the game free? No need to worry: it will be fun! 😉

The path of the folk song: from the English patient to modern electropop. On this evening, two worlds meet on the ground of folk songs: Дeva's electro-atmospheric sound and the symphonic power of the Danubia Orchestra. And the "moderator" is Béla Bartók himself, whose masterpieces written for piano and voice are performed this time in a special arrangement by Máté Balogh. 🎹

Those marking the evening:

Дeva (Dorina Takács)
One of the most unique phenomena of Hungarian light music. In his music, the ancient atmosphere of Hungarian folk songs meets modern electronics. In 2022, she is the female performer of the year, and her songs are now also popular on international radio stations. ✨

Béla Bartók
The series of Twenty Hungarian Folk Songs (1929) reaches into the deepest layers of the Hungarian soul. Although Bartók himself planned an orchestral version of it, it could not be presented at the time for political reasons - we are replacing the experience now.
