About event

The village church in Karow, built around 1230 in the late Romanesque style, is considered the oldest village church in today's Berlin. At the time it was built, around 135 people are said to have lived in the town, most of whom worked in agriculture.
The church was expanded and rebuilt several times. Particularly noteworthy are the 33 gallery pictures, the so-called Karow Picture Bible, which are unique for this area.
Pastor Jörg Zabka gives you an insight into the eventful history of the church and its congregation and lets you guess what the traces of deep ax blows on the oak door of the sacristy are all about.
As Karow has had an enormous increase in population in the last few decades, the congregation has also changed accordingly. The presentation of the diverse community life should also be part of this tour.
You are cordially invited to take part in the service before the tour. This starts at 11 a.m.
