Beltane

This annual fertility celebration completes spring and takes a taste of the summer. There is flirting with the season and with each other, seal their love for a year through handfasting ceremonies, there is dancing and sanctiest around the meipal and all with a homemade flower wreath in your hair. From 3:00 pm to Midnight we gather in the village to enjoy Ruigoord, Beltane and each other!

Program

🌸 Flower wreaths and clothing
The real Beltane Spirit naturally brings a piece of romance. The tough daring comes naked, but nowadays it is more common to get dressed, preferably in the season matched tunic. All colors of spring such as healthy green, sweet pink, fresh white or flaming red! A homemade crown on your head of flowers and/or ivy makes the party complete.

🌸 Dancing to the meipal
forerun from Tinder is the meipal. This flirt installation is specially rigged for Beltane with ribbons in all colors of the rainbow. While enjoying live music, we dance as a group of cross -lings around the pole and so together dancing a pattern that connects us with the earth, heaven and each other.

Handfasting - Trouw Ceremony
As usual, there is room for the Salon, the age -old Keltice Trouwonie during Beltane. During this ritual, the hands of two lovers are ceremonially bound together by means of a ribbon and/or rope. With this the two marry each other for 1 year. Interested? All private ceremonies are forgiven for this year. Will be informed of the possibilities personally next year? There is still limited space for the latter two options.

🌸 Kids activities
During the afternoon the village house will be open to all children. Under supervision we work with elements from nature with which we will make beautiful things! We work on braid and stamping with materials from the area such as leaves, blades, twigs and flowers. There is also the possibility to have your face painted. The lemonade is ready!

🌸 music
Until midnight there will be various musicians, bands and DJ's performance around the Meipaal, in the church and the salon.
🌸 Fire ceremony
a special Fire Ceremony will be held around the clock of 18h. Church

What is Beltane?
In the Celtic celebration, Beltane announces the summer. Beltane also means "belfire", derived from the God Bel, the Celtic sun god, God of light, fire and healing. The oldest mentions tell how the cattle were driven between two fires to guarantee fertility. Beltane is the fertility festival of the year. This is the time of reproduction, there is more food available and everything seems to be bursting at his joints. Flowers bloom, trees are again full of juicy young leaves, the juice stream is back in full swing, birds breed, animals pairs. Beltane is wild. It is the party at which you can be exuberant. It is now time to start something new. It is the time of hope, growth and attention. Everything is possible and optimism reigns supreme.
