Theater meeting. Part 1 of a three-part series of the community project Before the War Ends.
Cover. Way. Fragments of movements. Jar of honey. A scene at school. Mirror. Poem. Remembering. Resisting. Feelings. Restlessness in the body. Music. A question of happiness?
In the third year of the war, how does the mixture of the (not) distant past and the present driven by hope or necessity resonate in those who settled in the Brno environment? How does the community feel, facing the uncertainty or obligations of growing up, but also the declining interest of the neighborhood? Political and personal in the face. "Will we meet — or pass?"
The president talks about a plan for victory: but what are the visions and daily realities of people in a foreign land? "What did we bring with us? What did we write? And how to combine nine experiences into one whole?" Images of the author's statement, a walk through the house, a collage of themes. Germs of stories, monologues, documentary, verses. Performative lecture and acting sketch. Searching for creative cleansing. To want to express and depict one's feelings publicly — to materialize one's melancholy, longings, fears and tensions. Or even joy?
Benteha / Бентега — Ukrainian expression for a feeling of restlessness, tension, trembling nervousness, which cannot be rid of in physical or psychological manifestations.
Production by the method of Max's curatorial leadership Nowotarský and Matěj Nytra connects the participant group of mostly young people who signed up for the first part of the community project Before the war ends / До Закинченье Вийни, and according to their own choice of topic, they wrote down and formulated their personal experience and existential situation of their current stay in the Czech Republic.
