About event
🎶 BERLIN 21 STREETWORKERS – Urban soul, funk and groove jazz are passionately mixed live into a danceable cocktail of the highest level. A party atmosphere is guaranteed.
From the creative energy of the Berlin district of Moabit-Tiergarten with the former postal delivery code Berlin 21, a formation emerged that charges urban jazz with a rousing pinch of funk and soul: BERLIN 21 STREETWORKERS. What once began as a spontaneous musical reaction to the ban on performances during the Corona pandemic with street concerts is now a musical powerhouse at a high level - energetic, close to the audience and danceable.
With a repertoire of soul, funk and jazz classics combined with selected original compositions by the band, the ensemble hits the musical nerve of the generations who grew up with groove and feeling - and at the same time appeals to a curious, style-open audience
Since 2024, the band has had an extraordinary voice: Emil Wahlgren (born 1999) impresses with his distinctive, versatile vocals that effortlessly switch between soul, pop and jazz. Inspired by greats such as Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Nat King Cole and Billy Joel, Wahlgren brings a new vocal dimension to the ensemble. His improvisations and scat interludes are virtuosic and full of expressiveness and charm.
At Emil Wahlgren's side are:
· Lionel Haas – piano/keys: accomplished and virtuoso groove master
· Alexey Wagner – guitar: sensitive and soaked in funk
· Martin Lillich – bass: changeable between deep fundamentals and melodic drive
· Torsten Zwingenberger – Drums/Percussion: rhythm architect with his innovative technique “Drumming 5.1”, which takes classic drumming combined with percussions to a new, expressive level.
