This is Berlin in rhymes, beats and snappy punchlines.
“Berlin Berlin: the Poetry Slam” is all about the capital: its love and its noise, currywurst and club nights, subway drama and Spree romance. Slammers from all over the city (and beyond) bring texts that celebrate, dissect and poke fun at Berlin - sometimes seriously, sometimes ironically, sometimes simply to laugh at. Accompanied by a photo exhibition by Samson Völk, which puts the texts in the right light.
In the elegant Renaissance Theater, Berlin's street poetry meets 1920s chic, between Art Deco and chandelier splendor. A stage that can do as much theater as subculture – and on this evening belongs entirely to the capital.
