About event
Raunts after storms such as Ziros this summer deliver dramatic pictures, fire briefs from district politicians call for disaster assistance, more money and more staff. But creeping threats such as droughts, falling groundwater and rising temperatures are currently destroying the tree population across the board and above all the old and very young trees. The city falls twice as many trees as it plants and the vicious circle of heat, drought and insect infestation increases with every gap.
Berlin is not alone with the problem - the trees across Germany suffer from dryness, beetles, mushrooms and insects. Since 2019, the proportion of dead trees in all tree species has increased in a leapstust manner and the reconstruction of a climate silver piliary tree population demands science and practice for innovations.
It is all the more important to find answers to these urgent questions - for trees and clever investments in green infrastructure for a climate Berlin.
What should Berlin do to stay a green city where trees can thrive and cool us humans in the heat? to be observed in Berlin.
To answer these questions, we have the following professors and experts: Inside to our 9th tree salon in the tu Berlin ( one, one, conference room BH-N 008 ) invited.
Prof. Dr. Habil. Hartmut Balder, Institute for City Green, Falkensee
Prof. Dr. Jonas Reif, FH Erfurt plant use and vegetation concepts
Thomas N. H. Knoll, tree expert (TBC)
and other guests
