About event

Beth Gibbons, the Voice of Portishead, has just announced the “Lives Outgrown” tour with a concert at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, on July 16, 2025.

edited in May this year, Lives Outgrown, consists of 10 beautiful new tracks recorded over 10 years, with production of James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, The Last, The Dinner Party) and Beth Gibbons herself, and Lee Harris (Talk Talk).

This is your most personal work to this day, the result of a period of deep reflection and change - “many goodbye” in Beth's words. Farewell from family, friends, and even whom she used to be. These are songs from an intermediate point of life, when looking to the future no longer brings the same promises and looking back gets a clearer and more melancholy focus. “And that was a sadness that I had never felt. Before, I had the ability to change my future, but when you are against your body, you can not force you to do something that it does not want. ”

The songs approach topics such as maternity, anxiety and menopause (which Beth describes as“ a massive audit ”and“ huge hangover ”that“ cuts you legs ”)) Ram to die, ”says Beth. “When we are young, we don't know the finals, we don't know how it all will end. We think: Let's get over it. It will improve. But some finals are hard to digest. ” However, emerging from this decade of change and realignment left Beth with a sense of renewal. “Now, I have come to the other side, I think: you have to be brave,” he says.

Beyond his work with Portishead, the album Out of Season with Rustin Man (2002) and the recording of his interpretation of the Symphony of the Sad Songs of Górecki (2014), Beth was more recently heard with Kendrick Lamar on the track “Mother I Sober” M Mr. Morale & The Big Stepper (2022).
