Setting boundaries and sanctioning their violation is important in bullying, but ineffective if it remains just that. Until children experience the transformation of relationships from harming to a new (good) story, they may carry the meanings of "victim" and "aggressor" in their identities for a long time. The story of "power and powerlessness" or "non-acceptance" can be repeated for a long time. Sometimes until adulthood. What procedures are psychologically optimal for children and how to do it? We offer theoretical explanations from the point of view of a narrative approach, but also clear steps of individual interventions and prevention activities.
Lecturer: PhDr. Jarmila Tomková, psychologist and therapist ViaSua, o.z.
✅she has researched bullying at the international level, she has published professionally on the topic and still teaches,
she worked as a school psychologist for 7 years, where she developed and implemented several development and prevention programs , including the peer program Pupils Against Bullying,
✅completed systemic approach training in psychotherapy (ISZ KE)
✅she was one of the first members of the expert team of Iuventa Slovak Youth Institute, for the School without Hate program for schools,
✅she founded and leads the o.z. ViaSua, where she deals with narrative therapy, supervision, destigmatization and education in the prevention of negative social phenomena, is a consultant for school psychologists, for schools, the non-profit sector and private companies (ESET, s.r.o.) in the topics of effective prevention and education.
At the end of In 2018, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Slovak Republic issued Directive no. 36/2018 on the prevention and solution of bullying of children and pupils in schools and in school facilities. It imposed an obligation on schools to deal with bullying. Many schools, due to lack of knowledge of how to do it exactly, may leave this issue a bit aside, which is harmful for children. Or the schools are set up to solve the phenomenon, but the experts are still unsure of the procedures, they don't see the results and maybe in good faith they will do something that is not exactly the happiest procedure.
