About event
Support, not ignore. About the need for a systemic solution to homelessness.
Homelessness is a pan-European problem that is solved every day by social workers, curators, field teams and volunteer associations. This issue is often sidelined while people on the street are left with support, but often very limited. And this despite the fact that the social sphere is doing what it can. How long will we have to wait for systemic solutions?
The conference, organized by Prague 1 and the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in cooperation with the Local Local, is an effort by the city district and the cooperation of the non-profit sector to draw attention to the urgent problem of homelessness in Prague and the Czech Republic. We will offer a space to inform about the current state of helping homeless people and show where our options end without the support of the system. We will focus on key topics such as:
📌 Social and health situation of homeless people
📌 Need for decentralization of social services
📌 Homeless people in public space
< br/>Many homeless people face serious health problems. However, the solution to these problems often falls somewhere between rescue and social services. Accommodation options for these people are simply lacking, let alone wheelchair accessible. These problems are then solved by field workers, who do not have sufficient tools or resources for long-term solutions. of course, solving homelessness alone cannot be enough, they can join together in cooperation to solve the problem. We want to once again appeal to the responsible institutions to take concrete steps towards systemic solutions. The outputs of the conference will be sent to key actors who are responsible for solving the problem of homelessness and the situation of people in social exclusion.
The capacity of the hall is limited to 130 participants, so please register via the following form: forms.gle /yb47F7LmZDDGbBqUA
Handicapped access will be provided.
Refreshments will be provided by the Food Bank.
You can also look forward to a musical performance by Tomáš Klus with Míra Kanči.
