About event

Commented walk and tour of the baroque area on Bílá Hora.

Once the highest place in Prague, in winter it always snows a little earlier and a little longer than the rest of the city. The site of a decisive battle that determined religious and social conditions in the Czech lands for a long time, a symbol of national misfortune, but also a place of pilgrimage, the home of Benedictine sisters with a path to reconciliation. It's all White Mountain. On the walk, participants will see the area of the pilgrimage site and its modern surroundings.

The pilgrimage site on Bílá hora was created shortly after the battle to modestly honor the fallen. Nowadays, it represents a well-preserved baroque complex with a central church laid out on the plan of a cross and with domes above its shoulders, with a corridor and the administrator's house. The battle is depicted in several places: in the entrance to the original Marian chapel, you can see the approaching troops, on the ceiling fresco by Václav Vavřinec Reiner in the south dome, where a crucial moment for Catholics is depicted - the prayer of the Carmelite Father Dominic before the battle.
