The press method is an artistic form that constantly benefits in our local environment and loses from a deep tradition and the legacy of many personalities. On the one hand, these conditions provide the background and experience of many artists, schools and workshops, but on the other hand as if everything that follows them was surrounded by a transparent but difficult bubble that exists separately from the scene of the current exhibitions responding to trends and social events. This ahistoric aura is a filter communicating with a specific part of the audience, but is also a secret that envelops the workflows known only to the association of the initiated. Czech graphics are independent, satisfied and rapidly changing the scene of contemporary art. But after years of hunting new starting points in the strange waters of visual culture and traditional crafts, the current scene needs graphics?
And to be read in an area that is not only an exhibition gallery, but a complex environment affecting the experience and perception of the whole and individual graphics. For the same reason, the exhibition is narrowed to the technique of gravure printing, which is generally perceived with the greatest dose of archaicity. When thinking about lepts, aquatings and dry needles (although there are mezzotints, photogravury and gravni of lithographic stone in the exhibition), the discussion of the exhibition naturally directed to Francisco Goy. His graphic and painting work works perfectly with darkness, but also according to the famous self -portrait at the paint stand he worked in the light of candles, wax attracted to the Krempa hat. This detail of his work environment and hence the creative process is one of the reasons why Goya's graphic cycles have been installed in very close rooms with minimal point lighting in recent years. At the same time, we can ask the question of how much this way of installation, or the most perfect transfer of the artist's creative conditions, enriched the perception of the work to move to the exhibition space.

, it does not aim to sort or map the graphics scene in any way. The selection of exhibitors was mainly determined by chaining of personal contacts, the community around the studio and the intention to exhibit interesting prints from students*EC, who used to use the AVU graphics workshops independently. Serious debates with a possible social overlap about the life of art and a funny costume accessory, attracting cultural interpretation. It determines the material and light conditions of the installation of graphics while reminiscent of the humorous party hat to celebrate the birthday.

The project is implemented thanks to the support of hl. m. Prague and the State Fund of the Czech Republic Culture. > Artists: Hana Barabášová, Eliška Bartošová, Ema Bartošová, Ondřej Basjuk, Veronika Hoppová, Vojtěch Hrubant, Kateřina Janíková, Methodius Kincler, Tomáš King, Šárka Koudelová, Iva Krupicová, Ondřej Navrátil, Markéta Soukupová, Tereza Šrámková >
