About event
Indie pop full of feel-good vibes, catchy melodies, summery guitar riffs and retro synths. Blanks, the solo project of Dutch writer and producer Simon de Wit, makes music that gives you energy. What started as a hobby in his attic room grew into an international career. Blanks built an international audience via YouTube through creative concepts such as 'Fill In The Blanks', in which Blanks writes songs together with his fans. This resulted in songs such as Breathe In Breathe Out, Higher and Love Situation. He now has more than 1.2 million followers on YouTube.
As a result of the online success, Blanks developed as an energetic live act. He played at ESNS, New York Indie Week and Reeperbahn Festival, among others. He also played sold-out club tours in the Netherlands and Belgium, an American tour supporting St. Lucia and in 2023 his first headline European tour. In 2022 he won a Music Moves Europe award (formerly EBBA), and was featured in the Dutch TV program Beste Zangers, where his infectious enthusiasm and 'golden-retriever' vibes won the hearts of the Dutch audience.
In 2023, Blanks also actively worked as a producer and songwriter on music for other artists. With Flemish singer Pommelien Thijs, among others, he scored no fewer than three number 1 hits in Belgium. The collaboration with singer MEAU also resulted in a Top40 hit in the Netherlands. This fall, Blanks will play his biggest tour as a headliner through the US and Europe.
