The rich and successful publisher Pierre Brochant considers himself an intelligent person, but at the same time he has a really special kind of fun. Once a week he meets with his friends for the so-called "Dinners of Fools". Everyone's task is to find the biggest idiot possible and spend the whole evening beating each other's idiots. The bigger the goof, the better - the more fun it will be. This time, Pierre managed to catch a world-class jerk. In his way comes accountant Francoise Pignon, who literally looks like the uncrowned king of all idiots. Because Pignon is unbearably annoying and incredibly stupid. The whole plan gets complicated when Pierre hurts his back playing golf and has to cancel the whole dinner. But Mr. Pignon is already on my way.
One evening, one Parisian apartment and one idiot for dinner. It is absolutely certain that Pierre will never forget this night, because he who digs another pit falls into it himself.
Idiot for dinner is the most famous and successful comedy of the French playwright and director Francis Weber. Its film version became the most visited film in France in 1998. The film won three César awards in the categories of best screenplay (Francis Veber), best actor (Jacques Villeret) and best supporting actor (Daniel Prévost).
