The Blues Alive festival returns to Mikulov after great success! This time we will meet on Wednesday, November 13 from 7:00 p.m. at club 292 Mikulov, located at Piaristů 292/11. The ticket price is 390 crowns and includes a performance by guitarist, singer and composer Duwayne Bursnide (USA) together with band of Heysek (CZ). Part of the concert is also an exhibition called Roots of Blues III. As every year, the capacity of places is limited and we recommend buying tickets in advance, the previous two years were always sold out before the start of the event. We look forward to seeing you!

Duwayne Burnside
Guitarist, singer and songwriter Duwayne Burnside is one of 14 children born to legendary North Mississippi Hill Country musician R.L. Burnside and his wife Alice. He learned the first few guitar chords from his father, soon after he started playing with the owner of a local jook-joint, another prominent exponent of hill country blues, Junior Kimbrough. From his hometown of Holly Springs, it's only a short drive to Memphis, where he soon had the opportunity to play with Little Jimmy King, Albert King, B.B. King, Bobby "Blue" Bland and others.
Later, Duwayne began playing in his father's band, the Sound Machine Groove, with whom he recorded for Hightone and Fat Possum Records. He then opened his own club, Burnside Kitchen and Grill, near Highway 61 in Memphis. At the club, he booked bands, cooked food, sold beer and performed weekly with his own band.
In 1998, Duwayne recorded his first album Live at in Los Angeles the Mint under the name Duwayne Burnside & the Mississippi Mafia. He also worked closely with the Dickinson brothers and their famous band the North Mississippi All Stars. He recorded with them on their third album Polaris, appears on two of the group's EPs and still tours with them today. In 2004, he returned to his native Holly Springs, right in the center of the area, where the blues still lives in its original, essentially folkloric way of life. He opened another version of the Burnside Blues Cafe and formed a new band that combined soul blues with hill country blues. Under his own name, he released the albums Live at the Mint (1998) and Under Pressure (2005), both for B.C. Records. Duwayne Burnside helps keep Mississippi's North Hill Country blues flourishing. He was nominated for a Blues Music Award in 2022 for the album Acoustic Burnside.
Band of Heysek
A group of heyseks who compose and play their own animalistic, raw and dirty blues songs, which they released in September on their debut the album. The band was formed in 2015, three years after the breakup of the blues-rap band Nuck Chorris Gang, in which all members (guitarist Jan Švihálek, drummer Lukáš Kytnar and bassist Mojmír Sabolovič) worked and with which they released two albums in five years of existence. However, they are also known from other projects – Hoochie Coochie Band (which can be considered the live inventory of BLUES ALIVE since its beginnings), Kulturní úderka, Dura & Blues Groove, Tady To Máš, etc. Their zero concert at the Eurotrialog festival in Mikulov (still under the name Toff) was liked so much that they received an invitation to the next edition as well as a somewhat bizarre offer to join the British band Smokie in Ostrava. Since then, they have been performing concerts mainly at clubs and festivals in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
