Boban Marković Orkestar & Big Funk Brass

The bands Boban Marković Orkestar and Big Funk Brass will perform as part of the Groove Brno 2024 festival in Fléda. The concert will take place on December 4.

The French formation Big Funk Brass has been giving away its explosive energy for ten years - and this year's Groove Brno festival will be no exception. The raw sound combines funk with hip-hop in an original mix that will not leave any of the listeners alone. They can look forward to exciting grooves and intoxicating improvisations. The current leader of the eight-piece group is trumpeter Alexandre Herichon, who in the first post-covid year of the Brno festival literally impressed with his abilities - such that the director of the festival and the bandleader of the home B-Side band even knelt before him. And in "his" band, surrounded by other excellent players, Alexandre is understandably even stronger. Big Funk Brass have three albums and collaborations with renowned genre artists such as Ben l'Oncle Soul, Gaël Faye or A State of Mind, and they always give their best to their shows. It doesn't matter whether they play in a large concert hall or on the street, in a full cast or acoustically. It's a rush of electrifying energy every time. Big Funk Brass will arrive in the lineup: Abel Jednak (saxophone), Alexandre Herichon (trumpet), Tom Caudelle-Flugabone (trombone), Simon Girard (trombone), Lucas Dessaint (susaphone), Jonas Real (susaphone), Julien Paris (drums) , and Simon Poste (drums).

> more modern and funky repertoire. The line-up of musicians, which in addition to the founder's father Boban Markovič also includes his son Marko, an equally capable musician, became famous in an international context thanks to the films of director Emir Kusturici. Markovič's orchestra provided Kusturic's films Underground and Arizona Dream with a unique soundscape. The unique melody and sense of rhythm flow to Boban Markovič (born in 1964 in the southern Serbian village of Vladičin Han) like blood through his veins. It is not for nothing that he is the only trumpet player whom the prestigious British musician SongLines included in his overview of the fifty most outstanding instrumentalists in the history of music.
