About event

The first of the new cycle of literary musical evenings directed by Miloš Sládek in the Museum of Literature. He wants to point out the similarities and above all the differences between Czech and European early modern literature. It will focus mainly on Italian, Spanish, French, German and partly also English prose. At the same time, the cycle is a small celebration of Czech translators of the 20th century. It is a relatively little -known fact that Czech translations of the most important European literary works of the early modern times are among the master translation works, among the absolute top modern world translation. We will proceed chronologically, but taking into account some context and genre ties. The author collapsed into his consolation book written in plague times to entertain readers once stories individually inserted into medieval chronicles. Dekameron will thus introduce as an important link between the world of medieval and humanistic prose. The program will present the amendments of less known, one of the important selection criteria will be content variety.
