Founded in February 2019, this Prague International "Boptet" focuses on authentically swinging arrangements, both classic recordings and "neglected" jewels from the golden age of Bebop 40 years. The project is inspired by the life paths of two bebop pioneers, drummer Kenny Clark (1914-1985) and bassists Oscar Pettiford (1922-1960), and was called by Pettiford's composition Bohemia After Dark and Clark's album (Savoy, 1955). The New York club Café Bohemia and at the same time launched the star career of the Hard Bop Cannonball Adderley. Other bop giants associated with the repertoire of the project include Dizzy Gillespie, Fats Navarro, Tadd Dameron, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, J.J. Johnson, James Moody, Gigi Gryce and John Lewis, as well as singers Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae or Annie Ross.
