About event

How stable is a building and how little material does it really need?

How stable is a building and how little material does it really need? In this workshop you will experience first-hand how civil engineers think: together we will look at how structures work and why good planning is sometimes more important than large amounts of concrete or steel. Then you become a designer yourself. Using simple materials such as wooden sticks, cardboard or paper, you will develop and build a small bridge or support structure as a team. You will learn the basics of statics in a playful way and find out what creative, sustainable and resource-saving construction methods can look like today. You don't need any previous knowledge, because curiosity and a desire to tinker are enough!

Workshop leader: Dipl. Ing. Dr.techn. Sara Reichenbach

I am excited about how, through clever planning and new technologies, we can create sustainable buildings that are not only stable and beautiful, but also conserve our resources. Circular, resource-efficient, fit for the future - that's exactly what I want to show young women!

This event is only open to girls* and women*.
