The book presents an overall diagnosis of liberal democracy and affects the emergence of a new political system that is becoming the political dominant of the contemporary world. It is a system that emerges from the crisis of liberal democracy - it preserves some of its elements, transforms others and introduces others. Metapopulist democracy builds on the theory of the interregnum, as it was presented in the book Time of Transition, and contains new concepts that place politics in a wider economic, social and cultural context. It clarifies the political strategies that make it possible to unite a fragmented society without coherent doctrines and ideologies. It explains why today's politics is full of contradictions and logical incoherence. It asks questions about how to respond to meta-populist politics and how to create an emancipatory policy that would lead beyond the borders of the interregnum.
Doc. M.Sc. Michael Hauser, Ph.D.
Michael Hauser was born in 1972 in Trutnov. He studied philosophy at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University in Prague, where he also defended his dissertation in 2004 on the subject of Modernity and negativity: Adorno's concept, which was published as a book. Since 1998, he has been working at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, now in the department of contemporary continental philosophy. He lectures at the Faculty of Education of the Charles University and irregularly also at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University. He deals with critical theory and post-Marxism in relation to the crisis moments of contemporary civilization. He published a number of books, such as Prolegomena to the Philosophy of the Present or Journeys from Postmodernism. A book of interviews with him, Digging into granite with a hoe, was published. He translated Slavoj Žižek's book The Elusive Subject or Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment. In addition to professional domestic and foreign magazines, he has published or is publishing in Salon (literary supplement of the daily Právo), A2, A2larm, Argument, Literární noviny. With his friends, he founded the civic association Socialisty kruh, which deals with current and past left-wing theory and its popularization.
We look forward to seeing you 📖💙
