As part of the Fotograf Festival 2024, we cordially invite you to the launch of a translation publication in the Czech Republic of the less well-known, but internationally respected theorist, historian and photographer Allan Sekula (1951-2013).

The Czech translation presents two of his essays: Photography between work and capital (1983) and Eternal aesthetics of working gestures (1996), in which the author deals with the history of the depiction of mining and underground workers, but also with the use of photography by industry as a tool for the supervision of manual labor and in building the public image of industrial enterprises. Last but not least, it addresses the question of photography itself as work, thus offering an interesting commentary on the current debate about artistic activity as work. place will also present.
