Commented tour:
Thursday 25.6. 2026 at 4:30 p.m.
Duration: 80 to 90 minutes
Beginning: Cestné dvorie (by the statue of St. Peter)
Accompanied by: Juraj Kucharík, curator of the department of ancient history
Capacity – 30 places
DON'T MISS the unique opportunity to see the representative rooms of Mária Terézie
During the tour, we will learn more about the importance of Bratislava Castle in the 18th century, which at that time served as the residence of the Hungarian kings. During the reign of Maria Theresa (1740 – 1780), it underwent a complex architectural and artistic transformation. After the ceremonial staircase, we go up to the first floor of the castle palace, which was used for the representation. On this particular day, we will visit the premises of Mária Terézia in the south wing, which still serve as representative premises of the Office of the National People's Republic of Slovakia and are not normally accessible to the public. We will then move to the north wing with rooms planned for the needs of František Štefan Lotrinský.
The special tour is being held on the occasion of the 285th anniversary of the Bratislava coronation of Maria Theresa. It is an opportunity to experience the places where the queen and her family actually lived.
Note:
Representative spaces in the south wing are made available by the SNM - Historical Museum in cooperation with the Office of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. During the tour, it is essential to follow the instructions of the accompanying staff.
The tour route in the castle palace is barrier-free and suitable for visitors with limited mobility.
The tour takes place indoors.
Tickets are available online and at the museum box office, capacity is limited.
