About event
Broken Hearted
Not just girls, tomboys and Viki
MimoOs in its jubilee tenth season presents a new author's dance production by the couple Barbora Janák and Katarína Čillíková.
The work Broken Hearted (not just girls, tomboys and Viki) explores the universal experience of breaking up and asks the question: how to be in a relationship, not lose yourself and at the same time accept the fragility of love and its possible end?
It is based on the generation of millennials influenced by pop culture and the dance phenomena of the years 2000-2010.
Within the movement material, the choreographic duo connected the world of contemporary dance and street and club dancing, and at the same time it was based on emotional and physical manifestations of separation from a close person. From denial to anger to acceptance and finding self-worth.
Music is an important part of Broken Hearted, which helps us survive moments of crisis and simultaneously brings various memories to us.
The performance is set in a public space where personal stories meet collective experience. The authors, together with a group of other dancers, return to the period of first love, to the housing estate playground and to the hits they played over and over on their CDs or mp3 players.
