About event
Alexander Beierbach - tenor & soprano saxophone
Jan Roder - bass
Christian Marien - drums
Whether in concert, in rehearsal or in the studio, the Berlin trio BROM works together - comparable to a collective artist's workshop in which the three of them model on a sculpture or carve a sculpture are busy. The tenor saxophonist Alexander Beierbach, the double bassist Jan Roder and the drummer Christian Marien have been playing together in this band for around 15 years. In numerous concerts they have developed their own unique way of combining composed and improvised music.
The basis is Alexander Beierbach's open compositions, from which a wide variety of musical tableaus arise again and again. In combinatorial play, composed parts and free improvisations always meet in new ways; they overlap and reassemble in a different context - the same material can appear in the light of a wide variety of moods and styles. New freedoms emerge in the compositions, and clear structures emerge in free improvisation. So every concert follows its own logic, and every evening a different, collectively designed sculpture is created.
The development of this game concept can now be traced on three CDs: On the debut album there, which was released by gligg-records in 2013. followed Cardboard Sea in 2018 on the musician's own label Tiger Moon Records. The current CD A Night and 43 Seconds has now been released there.
Admission: 10 euros

Whether in concert, rehearsal, or studio, the Berlin trio BROM works together like a collective artist workshop — as if jointly shaping and carving a sculpture. For around 15 years, tenor saxophonist Alexander Beierbach, double bassist Jan Roder, and drummer Christian Marien have played together in this band. Through countless concerts, they have developed their own way of blending composed and improvised music.
The foundation lies in Beierbach’s open compositions, from which ever-changing musical tableaux emerge. In a combinatory play, composed parts and free improvisations continually meet a new, overlap, and reassemble in different contexts — the same material appearing in the light of varied moods and styles. Within the compositions, new spaces for freedom unfold; in the free improvisation, clear structures take shape. Thus, each concert follows its own logic, and each evening brings forth a different, collectively sculpted form.
The evolution of this musical concept can be traced across three albums: the debut there. (gligg-records, 2013), Cardboard Sea (Tiger Moon Records, 2018), and the latest release A Night and 43 Seconds (Tiger Moon Records).
