UPDATE: A sad truth is that the show will be more BREAD than GAMES this year. Because the legendary Diego Hagen unfortunately has to apologize due to the cold and gray season. Stepping in for him will be a warhorse on Germany's stages: the good-looking and talented three-time Poetry Slam team champion Samson.
Max Golenz and Diego Hagen are not only runners-up and national champions in the Poetry Slam, humble teachers, aspiring rappers and cabaret icons, but are also completing their third year in the Brotfabrik with their show BROT & SPIELE. BREAD & GAMES is an evening-long program of literature, music, art and games.
After a hearty portion of autumn pain and the tenth pumpkin soup, the dynamic duo is far from full. The appetite is back: for speculoos, gingerbread and cinnamon-sugary lines. We want to get you in the Christmas spirit and send you to the dinner table with Uncle Gerda and Grandma Helmut with a big grin. We'll be reading, rhyming, singing and rapping again - live, in color and only with you (and Santa Claus)!
Max Golenz, born in Berlin-Köpenick in 1991, studied German and history to become a teacher in Greifswald. Since 2011 he has been appearing on German-speaking slam stages, comedy stages and cabaret stages. He is the Berlin-Brandenburg champion in the Poetry Slam 2022 and runner-up in 2025. Various texts have already appeared in several slam anthologies, most recently in the “Poetry Slam Fibel 2.0” (Satyr Verlag, 2020). He lives and works as a high school teacher in Berlin.
Diego Hagen, born in Berlin-Lichterfelde in 1987, studied German and English to become a teacher in Greifswald and Rostock. Since 2010 he has been on German stages as a slam poet, musician and presenter - the rest of the time he is a teacher in front of his students and is also a three-time poetry slam state champion in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In addition to his creative output, he also successfully publishes learning videos on his YouTube channel.
Samson Völk has been at home on German-speaking spoken word stages since 2015. The poetry slammer and author primarily delivers humorous short stories - unpredictable, socially critical and mostly humorous. Since 2021, he and his colleague Ortwin Bader-Iskraut have won the team competition at the German-speaking Poetry Slam Championships three times in a row. With the book “My roommate Heiner appears in this book,” his first book was published by Blaulicht Verlag in 2022. In Berlin he moderates numerous event series, from small pub formats to the Best Of Slam.
