About the work

Aesthetics of disobedience. Interventions in the digital age.

Aesthetics of Disobedience sees itself as a philosophical-literary attempt at resistance against the all-consuming pull of the digital. It means cultivating an art of living in freedom and remaining alert to the wonderful in the world. Anyone who spends their lives in a cheerful and active way, dwelling in the beautiful and unbound, is taking the path of the “free-walker”: in defiance of the prison of the technocentric present and its guards, the AI, they keep their gaze constantly directed skywards: beyond Using the bars of numbers and algorithms, he creates spaces and oases of beauty that some other prisoners never see. As an “imaginationist” he has learned, in the midst of nihilistic post-postmodernism, to dare aesthetic disobedience from the center of his imagination: against all visual and thematic tutelage of technology, he dreams himself in the adventures of his mind, with his eye turned inwards, to the focal point of his Existence continues.

In their new book, Albert C. Eibl and Jan Juhani Steinmann reveal ways to deal aesthetically with digital transformation. In a total of 12 chapters, which alternate stylistically between philosophy, essay, narrative and poetry, they alternately circle the possibilities of beauty, freedom and metaphysics in the digital era. Her aesthetics of disobedience is seen as an essayistic-literary contribution to the highly topical discourse about people's normative approach to digitalization and its epoch-making consequences.
