About event

Our meeting is dedicated to the Bubeneč district northwest of the center of Prague.
It occupies approximately 4 square kilometers, and, if you subtract the local greenery, led by Stromovka Park, you get significantly less. And it may seem that this is not so much.
No matter how it is!
Like many suburbs that joined Prague in 1922, Bubeneč has a rich history and background, but the most interesting things happened here in the 20th century.
Largely due to the fact that it was Bubeneč at the very beginning of the century that became the home of the Prague Academy of Fine Arts - the main laboratory of Czech art and architecture. Its first building was built here, to which was then added the building of the School of Architecture (authors Jan Kotera and Josef Goczar).
So the development of Bubenech with apartment buildings included a pleasant bonus: many attic spaces were intended to serve as artists’ workshops, and sculptors’ workshops were located in the courtyards. Naturally, this could not but leave a very pleasant imprint on the further development of events and the daily life of the area.
In addition, this extremely picturesque suburb became one of the epicenters of villa construction, and remains so to this day. We will see extremely diverse examples from the very beginning of the century - when the clients of architects were not only entrepreneurs, but also their fellow sculptors - both from the interwar period, and even much more recent ones.
We meet on Sunday, June 21 at 15:00 at the Kamenická tram stop (on the north side of the street, that is, when you exit the tram from the center). The most pleasant landmark is the magnificent format.coffee coffee shop, which you can visit before starting.
