"There is a Berlin wall in each of us". Under this motto, Ioana Cristina Casapu gathers 24 essays in her “Berlin diary”, in which she combines her exactly 10 years of individual experiences in the German capital with social issues. From the perspective of a new, globally oriented generation, her texts tell of the experience of in between, between Romania and Berlin, the legacy of the past and the future, of strangers and belonging.
ioana Cristina Casapu is a Berlin author, journalist and artist from Romania. So far, two novels and contributions have been published in Romanian in over 30 anthologies, magazines and magazines in English, German and Romanian. Her texts deal with migration, feminism, social upheavals and global culture and appeared in Dazed, Thought Catalog, Goethe-Institut, Berlin Art Parasites, Dilema, City Languages Magazin.
Your debut novel Deviații de Stereo (2016, Casa de Pariuri literary) Translated.
She curated international art projects and multidisciplinary exhibitions; Her work could be seen in over a dozen individual and group exhibitions in Europe.
In 2024 she founded Flinta Literature*, a basic-oriented platform for migrant and displaced authors in Berlin. Your goal is to expand these public resource for artists, cultural workers, translators and language activists.
