About event
Love hurts and Berliners are not pancakes. These are the most important lessons you should know about communicating in the capital. We like to complain and look mean, but you shouldn't be offended by that. Berlinerisch is an artificial language. We're just pretending. Because what Berliners have to say has had little relevance here for 600 years. Ever since an elector decided to make the city his residence and build a castle. Berlinese became the language of the powerless, who expressed their aggression through funny speech. And then the film came.
Lea Streisand has written a cultural history of Berlin, short, clever and with quiet humor - like her audio column "war beautifully jewesen" on radioeins.
The book will be published on February 16th, 2026
