About event
At the end of October, the novel Aussiedlung by the Hungarian author András Visky will be published by Suhrkamp Verlag in the great translation by Timea Tankó. The German premiere of the book, which was highly praised in Hungary, will take place at the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin in the presence of the author and his translator. András Visky's sensitive novel tells the story of a family that is forcibly relocated to the Danube Delta in communist Romania. The mother and her seven children wander the steppe for four years, while the father sits in prison, sentenced to forced labor because of his faith. In an even-tempered, sometimes cheerful tone and with bright images, Visky tells the story of his deeply religious, passionately loving parents, who say NO to the violence of the state. How fantasy allies itself with love against reality and against the temptation to become evil has never been told before.
