🔺 What is the role of nuclear energy at a time when Europe is looking for a way to climate neutrality and energy self -sufficiency? Do we stand on the threshold of the new era of advanced technologies and changes in the access to the kernel? The lecture will explain what we can do today, what remains a challenge and why we cannot do without a rational debate on the core. He works at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, not only research in nuclear energy and particle physics. It participates in the public debate on the role of nuclear energy and its security in the contemporary world.

The atom is a miniature object, but contains a giant amount of energy. The knowledge of the divisibility of atom and the instability of the nuclei, for which we use the concept of radioactivity, has fundamentally influenced the history of the twentieth century. It led to the launch of the Manhattan project on the development of an atomic bomb. The nuclear armament races were a key element of the Cold War and the question of their (not) spreading is moving world politics. Czech history was noted by Uranus mining in Jáchymov and disputes over nuclear energy. At present, the core is again up to date, with great possibilities and threats associated with it. We can better understand the situation of Czech society today?
