The Way of Monks is a project involving two municipalities, Lamego and Tarouca, with a total extension of 42 km, about 19 km in the municipality of Lamego and 23 km in the municipality of Tarouca. The presence of the Varosa Valley cister monks is irrefutable proof of the importance of this territory at the regional, national and international level. Nothing is genuine than the origin, and the history of the Vale Vale transports us to the genesis of our country. The lands of the Valley Valley fixed the cisteric monks, the so-called white monks, and their connection to the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, to grow, increasing their properties and creating greater power over the territory and who lived here. Its boldness and boldness impelled us to follow the course of water, the Varosa River course, which led them to the Douro, where they soon realized from the agricultural wealth of the territory, and where the first Thursday of Sweet Wine Production of Lamego is born, Quinta do Mosteiro. Going through the path of the monks is to discover a unique territory, prodigiously rich in history, religion and heritage, which invites a tactile approach, and to the discovery of the traditional uses and customs they have left. Is to discover the Monastery of St. John of Tarouca, to know the medieval toll of the Ponte and Torre de Ucanha, to enjoy the imposing monastery of Santa Maria de Salzedas, to visit the Chapel of S.
