This Proposal of Activity aims to provide a weekend in the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, Alentejo Verde, where Ecosystem of Ribeira de Arronches and where it is possible to enjoy oasis such as the Cascade of Ribeira and São Julião, in addition to the landscapes of the São Lourenço Valley or the picturesque village of Alegrete. The Alegrete route
begins with a mild riverside leisure zone in Alegrete and has several themes. It travels part of one of the most humanized natural parks in Portugal and here has a landscape strongly influenced by human activities. We can observe along the way, Bravo pine and eucalyptus, assembled, olive garden, vineyards and gardens. The Stevals are also present, and in the distance you see one of the highest points of the Serra, where the peak of São Mamede stands out. One of the coolest sections follows the banks of the Arronches Ribeira, which runs in the shadow of friends, willow, blood and cherry trees. Points of interest recall us agricultural practices for a long time abandoned, named after and picked walls. 30 - Ribeira de Arronches Waterfall

The Castle of Alegrete
Ten 10 kilometers from Portalegre, the most important fortresses of the high fortress Raiano Alentejo, assuming, since the Middle Ages, as a fundamental fortification in the regional defensive system. Their origins remain obscure. The traditional reading of its history points to an antiquity prior to the kingdom of Portugal, as it has been conquered to Muslims by D. Afonso Henriques. However, the first safe news of its existence dates from the thirteenth century, in particular from the reign of D. Afonso III. In 1267, following the Badajoz Convention, the village was definitely integrated into the Portuguese space, as it reflects its importance in the regional context. Nio

Path takes us through the surrounding portalegre, along its higher points to the northeast, sometimes with panoramic for the city, from which we can identify some of its most emblematic buildings, such as the castle and the Cathedral, sometimes for old walked and narrow sidewalks, among countless properties and small locations. A very green route, with numerous nuclei of black oak, chestnut tree, cork oak and pine, which houses other riches of flora and fauna. The abundance of mosses and lichens to coat walls and tree trunks tell us the freshness of the place, but also the quality of the air. Near the end we went down the Meteorological Bulletin Road and passed by the Portalegre Meteorological Station Building. Below is an old designated military structure Atalaião. We will also pass through the source of loves before the end.
