We will have an occasion to travel a large part of Ecovia of the time, climb to the Sterus viewpoint and go through the old trailers, who lead us to panoramic excellence, crossing medieval bridges and places that make us just want to stay and enjoy the environment. We can also go through the alleys of the Systeel village, visit its church and the spikes, so characteristic of the Soajo area. The Systeel village was one of the winning villages of the “7 Wonders of Portugal” contest. Located in Peneda-Gerês National Park, it is famous for its landscapes with such socals or terraces, where corn is cultivated and there is still cattle to graze. The village is very well preserved, with most of the typical granite houses, barns and renewed public laundries. The village has a typical handicrafts, especially around wool socks and wool aprons, who make the wonders of tourists and visitors

The municipality of Arco de Valdevez and Ecovia of the time, where the Systeel walkway is inserted, are part of the Biosphere World Reserve. The green socials of the region, next to the river, gave it the nickname of Portuguese Tibet. Socials are made by man, worked by the population, and representative of their relationship with nature. Of medieval origin, Sistelo soon saw his territory organized by human action, with man keeping the zones with best sunshine for the spigar nuclei, using the river margin for the implantation of mills, and taking advantage of the mountain altitudes for the Straight Social and Leaded from the 16th century. Boilers, Vilela Bridge, Systeelo River Beach, Foz do Azere River, Systeel Socalcos, Eitocentist Bridge, etc.

Difficulty level of the course: 3 (scale 1 to 5)
Path extension: 14 kms

"Sterics Walk"
The initial sidewalk of this track leads us to the river to dazzle with a magnificent riverside forest. Among the river aromas, the cooax of amphibians and the singing of the river birds reveals the biodiversity that hides in the amial. Here and there the gilbardeiras draw attention with their red berries. After crossing the river and traveled the walkway, the path is shaded by the carvalhal Alvarinho leading us to one of the points where the status of the landscape snatches-the slope of the ster. Here the perspective on the valley is unique. The Socalcos between Systelo and Standard hold the look in a stunning beauty.
Points of interest: Casa do Sistelo Castle, Miradouro da Estrica, Ponte over the river, rural landscapes, Systelo Socals. MS

Giela Palace
Giela's Palace is a remarkable copy of medieval and modern private civil architecture, considered one of the most important national monuments, thus classified in 1910.
Its origin is deeply linked to the formation of the important “land of Valdevez”. Giela's “Casa-Rorre” building marks a new moment of protection and manorial and royal domain over the region, highlighting the building for its deep originality and importance. It is currently visible to the medieval tower as well as the residential body, with “Manueline” windows and fortified entrance, mostly built in the sixteenth century. The tower was built in the mid -fourteenth century, replacing a small abandoned tower in the fourteenth century, and corresponding to a phase of occupation of strong medieval and vigor of the castle.
