About event
Cellist Leah Plave and electroacoustic sound engineer Tiziano Teodori met for the first time in 2020 in The Hague as members of Linen of Words; a multidisciplinary ensemble that reinterprets American folk music. A shared ambition to combine genres and explore electronic sounds led Leah and Tiziano to break new, uncharted territory, with groundbreaking sounds and techniques that challenge traditional views of the cello.
In their repertoire we find a vast terrain where the rich timbral possibilities of the acoustic cello and electronic textures converse, often drawing on nature, ancient musical traditions and the labyrinth of the human experience. By using analogue modular synthesis, live sampling and an exploration of minimalism, imaginative dialogues are created. The result is music that tells a story, existing in a space that is unique, resonant and completely its own. With roots in Baroque and classical training, Leah and Tiziano bring subtle echoes of history into their work, interweaving the ancient with the avant-garde. In 2023, Leah and Tiziano gave their debut at the Sound Art Festival in The Hague. Since then, their music has captivated audiences in both traditional and eclectic venues, such as De Doelen, Korzo Theater, Sexyland World and the Angelica Festival Internazionale di Musica, among others. The duo has quickly gained recognition and been invited to perform at respected festivals and theaters across Europe.
