CENTRUM PERIFÉRIÍ - documentary premiere at ArtFilm Fest Košice 2026
In 2024, a team of young artists and organizers working in the creative
industry organized the European Slam Poetry Championship in Košice, in which up to 32 countries participated. The documentary film
CENTRUM PERIFÉRIÍ, which was produced by OZ SLAM POETRY SK, records not only
the course of the championships themselves, but also the exceptional cultural infrastructure of the city of Košice and the overall
social atmosphere in which the Slam Poetry championships took place. In a unique way
it represents the straw tip of the European continent and its legacy. The film does not shy away from strong themes
such as the war in Ukraine, or the current situation of artists and art in Europe, at a time when extreme nationalism is growing again in some
of its countries. It sensitively depicts the mutual solidarity of an exceptional
artistic community such as the European Slam Poetry movement. The documentary film CENTRUM PERIFÉRIÍ
was created on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the slam scene in Slovakia.
After the screening, a slam evening and a discussion with the creators of the film.
