About event
The Symphony Orchestra of Dalibor Havlíček returns to the Cultural Center Novodvorská for the tenth time. Traditionally, in the run-up to Christmas, the Czech Christmas Mass "Hey, Master!" by Jakub Jan Ryba. The choristers of the Jílov Choir Homonculi with the Kamenický Choir, the Nashira Women's Choir and the Modřan Church Choir will perform.
The Czech Christmas Mass has been performed for almost 230 years. When Jakub Jan Ryba finished it, he had no idea that he had just composed his most famous work. Even later, he did not learn about the popularity of his work, and he certainly had no idea how famous it would be after his death. Even then, however, the work slowly spread through handwritten descriptions throughout Bohemia. And later even beyond the borders of our homeland. The music that warms our hearts today was nevertheless created under difficult and, above all, very complex conditions. Currently, unfortunately, the story of the composer himself and of this work is almost unknown. We are trying to change that with our programs, which are available to you at concerts.
Let's listen to Christmas tunes together and share the festive holiday atmosphere. Singing carols together will certainly contribute to the Christmas mood. Come and join us, we look forward to seeing you!
