A unique workshop of playing the frame drums led by percussionist and rhythm teacher Tomáš Kerle.
During this session, we will have the opportunity to get to know one of the oldest rhythmic instruments in the history of mankind, which plays an essential role in many musical traditions around the world.
Frame drums offer an incredibly wide range of colors and sounds – so there will definitely be something to discover.
First, we will thoroughly get to know the different types of these instruments, such as the tar, bendir, dayereh and others.
We will gradually penetrate into the basic techniques of the game and discover how simple rhythmic cells create lively musical landscapes. An important part will also be the development of sensitivity for the pulse, time and common musical space.
The main purpose of the workshop is a shared musical experience. We will play, listen and create rhythm together - sometimes dance and energetic, other times calm, focused and even meditative.
The frame drum can thus become not only a musical instrument,
but also a means for a deeper perception of rhythm,
space and connection with others.
Level: the workshop is intended for beginners and intermediate
Price: CZK 1,500
Time: 10am-5pm (with a break for lunch)
A deposit of CZK 500 is required to reserve a place at the workshop. We will send the account number immediately after the application.
If you want to rent a frame drum, please let us know in advance. If you don't have a frame drum, but you do own a quality shaman's drum that has a tighter skin, take it with you.
