About event
Reindeer! Seals! Mosquitoes! Breathtaking Nordic scenery! Mosquitoes!
Do you enjoy looking at pictures of strangers' honeymoons? And would you rather these trips go beyond the Arctic Circle rather than to a luxury resort in Bali? Then this travel lecture is right for you!
First we will look at Tromsø in Northern Norway and its immediate surroundings, and from there we will head to Finnish Lapland, specifically to Lake Kilpisjärvi. There we will go to the so-called triple border, i.e. the place where the borders of Finland, Norway and Sweden meet, let ourselves be bitten by cruel swarms of mosquitoes and finally climb to the top of the sacred mountain Saana. In the end, we will stop for a while in the south-west of Finland, where we will breathe a little.
Martin Mokrý, a graduate of Brno Baltic studies and a translator from Finnish in the beginning, tells us about his journey to the vast regions of Lapland.
< br/>Entrance is voluntary
Attention, the lecture takes place in the Klein Palace (Nám. Svobody 15)!
The lecture is organized by the Scandinavian House as part of the Days of the North 2024 festival, in in cooperation with the Jiří Mahen Library and with the financial support of the statutory city of Brno.
