About event
Afghanistan, which you won't experience from the couch!
Three travelers who consciously go where most of the world will never go. Peter Dosedla, Martin Navrátil and Jiří Krška traveled dozens of countries off the tourist maps - and some of them repeatedly. Their expeditions are not about comfort, but about authentic contact with reality.
In the show Firsthand, they bring stories from places where beauty meets uncertainty, and where every decision can have consequences. One of their strongest experiences is Afghanistan - a country they visited during a time of dramatic change, just before and after the return of the Taliban.
Don't expect a classic travelogue. This is an inside view.
What themes will they bring to this part of the show On Your Own Skin?
Life under the Taliban - restrictions, especially for women, music bans, daily rules
Safety and reality of travel - armed escort, permits to move between cities
Psychology of local people - fear, denial of reality, but also ordinary life in streets
The difference between the city and the countryside - completely different rules and living conditions
The paradox of Afghanistan - a country that would be a wonderful tourist destination if it were not marked by conflict
The emotional impact of the journeys - powerful experiences that "surpassed everything" they had experienced up to that point
What will you experience firsthand?
The feeling that you are they were "right on the spot", an understanding of the world without filters and stereotypes, stories that are sometimes shocking, sometimes funny, but always real. A view of travel as a way of learning, not of escape
