About event

𝄞 On Friday, May 9 at 18:00, we invite you to the Rudolfinum Gallery to the live performance of Canadian artist Charles Stankieveche. The entrance is free. The work in which the sounds of underground and the universe permeate each other, invites viewers to meditate on deep time, deep space and deep listening. The Glass Key composition consists of a full spectrum of frequencies. You will hear the original electromagnetic recordings of the ionosphere, hydrophone records of Arctic ice and Yucatan caves Cenotes and echoes in the Lanzarot volcanic calders. The work originally arose on the order of James Turrell for the amphitheater Tree of Light on Yucatan.

Poetics of Encryption. The exhibition ends on Sunday, May 11. Geopolitics, deep ecology and sound resonance. From the northernmost settlement of the Arctic to the depths of the Pacific Ocean, Stankievech's practice reveals the paradoxes of our existence on the planet by dealing with the imperceptible. His exhibitions and performance took place in Haus der Kulture der Welt in Berlin, Canadian Center for Architecture in Montréal, KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, Louisian Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, National Gallery of Canada, TBA21 in Vienna Yorka, Tae Foundation in Mexico, the Venetian Biennale, Santa Fe Biennial, Berlin Biennale and Documenta 13. Since 2015, he has been published by MIT, Verso, E-Flux and Sternberg. He is an associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design of Toronto University and in 2022–23 he was a visiting professor at the Department of Architecture of Tokyo University.
