About event
Slovaks, let's face it, are we drinking too little? Is the glass of life more half-empty after forty, or have we been missing something since birth? According to the Norwegian philosopher and psychiatrist Finn Skårderud, we are born with a lack of alcohol in our blood. It would like to replenish the "level"... at least half a million.
In the theater play Drunkenness, four mature-age teachers and friends stumble indifferently through life. Charismatic Martin, as a history teacher, alternates one boring life step after another. Gentle music teacher Peter in contrast with gym trainer Tommy, who knows how to roar, and not only on the playground. The celebration of the fortieth birthday of the profound psychology teacher Nikolaj, however, explodes in full and stirs up a spiral of tragicomic situations. Above all, however, it will open the door to a cunning experiment, of course, with alcohol. Hold on to your hats, the furious comedy with a hint of sharp sadness will answer many of life's questions. Can alcohol awaken a better version of ourselves in us?
"Eat-sleep-reproduce is not enough at this point. Are we able to make decisions, even if the ground under our feet is shaky?" Find out for yourself.
Four excellent actors will present themselves in a full field. Marián Miezga, Ady Hajdu, Róbert Jakab and Braňo Deák will maintain the right "level" of humor and life wisdom all the time. Join them for a theatrical celebration of life.
The author of the screenplay and theatrical adaptation is the renowned Danish film director Thomas Vinterberg. In 2020, the film version of Chľast won over the whole world, the hearts of viewers and critics. She won several prestigious international awards from film festivals, including an Oscar.
