Christmas tree ball instead Disco ball:
The Berlin band Tango Bravo usually turns clubs into discos. With hip swings and hits, falsetto and funk, the quartet made Cologne, Bochum, Freiburg, Kaiserslautern and Marzahn dance this year. But even disco rock needs peace and quiet and some time for devotion and contemplation.
In Kapelle99 on December 13th, ringing bells will be heard instead of crash cymbals. Piano keys are stroked and nylon strings are plucked.
On this cozy evening, the Friedrichshain group leaves the drums and amplifiers in the rehearsal room, which is only a few streets away. A band known for their sweaty shows takes their seats for the first time.
It's very Christmas and Tango Bravo are playing their quietest concert. For one evening they turn their pop hits into gospel numbers. We sing together at the piano. The family joins us.
On chairs in the audience in the festively decorated chapel and on the stage. The singer-songwriter Oktober plays heavenly indie folk, the artist Erold Sommer paints, and maybe there are a surprise or two under the fairy lights.
The music plays for two hours. Two guitars, piano, bass and tambourine. At most. In between there are cookies, mulled wine and gifts. Merry Christmas with Tango Bravo. A cozy celebration for the disco rock family and a homecoming.
