About event
⚫ They have been traveling around Slovakia for ten years, documenting monuments that are deteriorating and are in danger of not being seen by future generations. They call themselves Black Holes, and they managed to excite Slovakia across generations for the history of architecture - from century-old factories to abandoned spas to icons of modern architecture. During that time, the loose grouping became an institution - a publisher of graphic and book bestsellers, as well as a platform for the preservation of monuments.
The jubilee exhibition at the SOGA Auction Company presents the Black Holes graphic series. This is a selection from a wider collection, which since 2015 has exceeded the number of 340 works by almost 100 Slovak authors. The exhibition works with the principle of similarity and indicates the range of approaches of Black Holes. All works are printed by members of the association themselves in their studio on a Japanese RISO risographic machine. New depictions of cultural heritage emerge from the vibrant colors of rice and soy. With printing errors, which are the interest of the work.
The success of the Black Holes graphic series enabled the association to become financially involved in the field of cultural heritage. The preservation of monuments, which has been undernourished for a long time in Slovakia, is paralyzed after the new leadership of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic takes over and threatens to change from the ground up. graphics to the collection of the Slovak National Gallery. Proceeds from the auction at that time helped Black Holes complete the experience accommodation project in the Coburg mansion in Jelšava, which won the CEZAAR Architecture Award. After five years, Čierne diery returned to SOGA Auction Company, focusing on other monuments, for example, the restoration of the apartment building of ironworkers in Betliari. The series of graphics continues. It is expanding to include new topics, new authors, as well as new charity projects.
